Second-Hand Clothing Made Easy.

The Mission

“We’re for empowering youth. Inspiring local, sustainable trade. ClothesVine is second-hand clothing made easy…”

ClothesVine is a joint business venture between Wellington high school student Lily Roberts and Data Scientist and entrepreneur Masum Billah. Built through the Young Enterprise Scheme, ClothesVine is New Zealand’s first online second-hand marketplace for teens and young kiwis. We’re building a transparent, convenient, communal marketplace for buyers and sellers. With a 100% seller profit policy, we hope to make waves in the community and give our rangatahi a chance to be their own salespeople.

Behind the design

“Profiting from protecting our environment. What better way to be empowered?”

  • Tackling textile wastage-the amount of waste has doubled over the past 10 years in Wellington city’s landfill, and Auckland’s waterways are now heavily polluted with synthetic chemicals.
  • Booming marketplace-we’re riding the upward trend, with 33 million new second hand buyers worldwide in 2022.
  • Empowering youth-Young Kiwis should have the chance to be their own salespeople, which is why ClothesVine’s 100% seller profit policy aims to empower New Zealand’s youth.

What makes us different?

“We’re localizing a global mission; we want convenience for a community of buyers and sellers. Second-hand clothing should be accessible and plentiful…”

  • By youth, for youth- imagined and designed by a Wellington-based high-school student, ClothesVine caters to a young Kiwi audience for their clothing needs and wants- all the while empowering you to be money savvy!
  • Localized and connected- we’re preserving Kotahitanga (unity) in our design. We’re a local platform which links people together around Aotearoa- buying and trading across the country.
  • Sustainable marketplace- ClothesVine keeps a circular economy flowing, reducing domestic strain on our landfills, and discouraging the purchase of toxically produced fast fashion.
